    Regular expression woes

    justinbanks

      I'm trying to match either a url or an asterisk on it's own. In perl I can do this with (^.*[a-zA-Z/]$)|(^\*$) and that works okay on the validators I've tried online as well, but doing

      <snip>

      this.txtRELocationValidator.expression = "(^.?*[a-zA-Z/]$)|(^\*$)";

      <snip>

      <mx:RegExpValidator id="txtRELocationValidator" source="{this.txtLocation}" property="text" required="true" requiredFieldError="Location is required." noMatchError="Please enter a valid URL." />

      does not work no matter how I massage it. Any clues? TIA
