increase the size of your droptargets. you can use shapes with an alpha of zero so the droptarget doesn't appear to be any larger.

I found the alpha under 'color effect' but I don't want to make my target image
disappear, I want to make the little 'plus' sign or the target landing area
bigger so a user doesn't have to be spot on with lining the little 'plus' signs of the respective
drag and drop movie clips.
Right now I feel like I'm lining up points (the drag plus sign and the target plus sign) the size of a pin; I want to line up points the size of basketballs.
go to the movieclip's timeline that has the plus sign. lock that layer. create another layer and drag it below your plus sign. create a shape with an alpha of zero on that bottom-most layer. test.
