ok, I've been trying to make a playlist of some of the short movies i've done across the years but I am currently stuck.
Is there any way to have a .swf file, load other .swf using variables defined on a separate txt or xml file? if so, is there a way that flash can do it all automatically? that way if i have to update it i only have to update the variables in the .txt/.xml file instead of updating the entire .swf file.
In general, the concept of using a data file such as a txt or xml file is to do pretty much what you seem to be looking for--to be able to change what a file shows by updating a data file. You just have to design the Flash file to process the data file and then manipulate the data to load whatever file(s) however you intend. What you might try is to search Google for a tutorial about an xml gallery. You should be able to adapt that fairly easily into loading swf's instead of images once you get it working because the same code is used for loading images and swf's. Try searching Google using terms like "AS3 XML gallery tutorial" (or use AS2 instead if that's your intention.
