1. Re: Lost keywords when moving from CS2 to CS5
Curt Y Jul 27, 2010 7:27 AM (in response to Greg Moffatt)You can only run one version of Bridge at the same time. Check the task manager to make sure neither one is running the the background. No reason that CS2 should not run correctly.
Keywords are imbedded in the image of jpeg and in the xmp file for Raw. So you will not loose them, although the keywords list will have to be rebuilt.
If you click on an image with a keyword it will be added to the list. However, it if is in italics it is temporary and will disappear on a reboot if you do not right click and choose "make persistent".
Most times users do not see keywords becasue the have not checked keyword for additional thumbnail metadata in preference/thumbnail.

2. Re: Lost keywords when moving from CS2 to CS5
Greg Moffatt Jul 27, 2010 10:05 AM (in response to Curt Y)Thanks Curt - in a roundabout way you have solved the problem. It seems that Bridge CS5 loads into the system tray and that stops Bridge CS2 from loading. Killing that as you advised enabled me to load my old copy of Bridge which then allowed me to find the address of the cache. Looking in that folder showed that there are two files - Adobe Bridge Keywords.abdata and Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml. The folder for Brdge CS5 only had the second file so I copied the pair over to CS5 and reloaded Bridge CS5. Abracadabra - there were all my keywords. I don't know how many hundreds there are, but I certainly wasn't looking forward to manually re-creating them. So thank you - you have another fan.

3. Re: Lost keywords when moving from CS2 to CS5
Curt Y Jul 27, 2010 12:28 PM (in response to Greg Moffatt)Good you got it up and running.
I would advise you disable autoload at startup in the advanced preferences of Bridge. It casues problems on several fronts if you forget it is already running.

Greg Moffatt Jul 27, 2010 1:29 PM (in response to Curt Y)Thanks Curt, for the pointer - not too happy with the number of things that
I've already got for good reason in the startup tray.
