Hi again Tanya,
Thanks for looking at my question.
However it's not possible for me to link to a web address as the micro-site i'm making is only to be viewed offline from a promotional pendrive.
I've tried linking the .pdf file location (from on the pendrive) in the URL but it doesn't work.
I've seen a post about converting the pdf to a swf. However I dont think it will enable the user to print etc, unlike if it were viewed in something like adobe acrobat/reader.
Once you're finished your project in Fc you'll need to pull it into Flash Builder and change the path for the link to the pdf. Take a look at this thread to see how it's done.
If my project is to be played/run from a DVD disc, how would I link the pdf?
When you create the interaction for the button, set the transition to "onClick" / "Go to URL" / [specify the File Path of your PDF on your disk] / "Open in New Window"
Are you publishing the Flash Catalyst project to the same DVD disc as the PDF?
Thank you for the info!
Yes, the file will be in a "ASSETS" folder on the root of the disc. What will I make the drive letter of the disc cause surely this will differ from PC to PC?
I'm not sure if this will work, but try specifying a relative path instead of an absolute path
For example -
- relative path would be: assets/myFCfile.swf
- absolute path would be: G://data/assets/myFCfile.swf
Will give it try, thanks. I take it that the "myFCfile.swf" will be replaced by example.pdf?
