I've never had this problem in previous versions of Fireworks but in CS5 it seems like holding down the shift key when drawing with the pen tool doesn't make straight lines. There is a snapping but it's more like 10 degrees off of straight down or straight up. Is there a way to get around this?
Also: I often get a grey screen saying "Out of Memory". I've never seen it in earlier versions of FW.
I love Fireworks. If it was just a bit more stable and if it would be possible to work with larger files I would probably never use photoshop for anything ever again! The UI in FW is a hundred times better than any other Adobe program.
Holding down shift to create straight lines with the Pen tool has never worked. Just click and drag. You can hold doown shift and drag a straight line with the line tool, however. That's the one with the pencil icon.
Oh, I was a bit unclear in my question I guess... What I meant was that when I have drawn a circle with the pen tool and I use the sub selection tool to move an anchor point I can no longer hold down the shift key to move the point straight up or down. Now that I try it out more thoroughly I see that this only happens to the lower and the left anchor points! (I realize I was VERY unclear before... sorry about that)
I hope this describes my issue better.
Thank you for your quick replies! Great forum.
