Sorry you will have to excuse me on this picture upload didnt turn out the way I wanted it to.
Can you please describe your problem in English?
I looked at your images, and I perceive that maybe you're trying to say you no longer see previews of your .NEF files at the bottom of the File-Open dialog. Is that it?
Did you download the camera raw plugin 6.1 from here?
Install the camera profiles and put the camera raw 6.1 plugin in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats
Do not use the plugin in the folder win64.
Also remove the plugin you put in the pse8 program files and the old one in the
Well after reading my thread when I am awake. Yes that is the problem I can no longer view the .NEF
I redid what you said to do but It is still not working.
If you go into PSE8 and do Help / About Plug-in / Camera RAW what version does it report?
Also, where is it that you are not seeing what you expect, in Organizer, in the Editor, in File / Open, or where?
And what are you expecting to see, and what you are seeing, instead?
I hate to ask the obvious, but I must, since what you showed above doesn't have any particular .NEF file selected.
When you're looking at the File - Open dialog, and you click on one of the .NEF files, do you just not then see the thumbnail filled-in? As SSprengel has already asked, what DO you see in that case? Does it just remain blank?
For what it's worth, it's possible the Camera Raw plugin isn't the component that provides thumbnail access to raw files. With my Canon raw files I have had to load a special 3rd party codec to do the job.
when I open file and goto the RAW file with pictures all I see is the blank .NEF file when i click on it then I see the Thumbnail. And then I can open and edit the picture. Before I was able to see the picture before clicking on the .NEF. I mean its not the end of the world but now I have to click every file to find the picture that i am looking for.
It didnt do this until I reformated my PC.
No the file is filled in when I click the .NEF but when I had this installed prior to my reformatting I didnt have to click on the .NEF to at least see the picture. Now I know the .XMP file was still white. well I am not sure if there is another update for this but I kow it worked before. But again I dont remember having to do the Camera RAW when i installed it.
[I duplicated the message because it didn't seem to have gone through the first time.]
You just need to change the View options of your File / Open dialog, from List to Large Icons or Thumbnails.
Looking back and your screen captures, you can either use the rightmost toolbar icon on the File / Open dialog, or sometimes there is a View menu along the top of the dialog.
The default must be List instead of Thumbnails, now. I don't know if it'll remember once you've changed it, or if you'll have to change the View mode each time, but it's still better than clicking on each one to see what it is.
I am so retarded. I figured it out. I needed to d/l a windows update for Nikon now I can see the pictures. Thanks to all that help me figure out my madness.
