Jasonized Aug 6, 2010 11:21 AM (in response to ewormuth)Personally, I would hold off deleteing 2.7 (or at least the catalogs) just yet. Quite a number of people have been having problems with 3, and are waiting with bated breath for 3.1 to come out. If I had the option, I would have stayed on 2.7 for a bit longer...
Cheers!

ewormuth Aug 6, 2010 11:41 AM (in response to Jasonized)Can I uninstall LR2 but leave the catalogue intact? That won't go with it?

4. Re: Question re Lightroom 3 upgrade -- can I delete LR2??
Jasonized Aug 6, 2010 11:43 AM (in response to ewormuth)The catalogs are separate from the programs. As long as you uninstall the program, and don't just randomly delete directories (folders) you should be fine.
Later, you can also delete the "old" catalog, as I believe the update process renames the catalog file as well, but I'd have to check before I could say for certain. If nothing else, make sure you backup your stuff first!
Oh, and you can test by "renaming" the old folders/etc first, Then bring up LR3 and make sure everything still works. Better safe than sorry!Cheers!

5. Re: Question re Lightroom 3 upgrade -- can I delete LR2??
Pete Marshall Aug 6, 2010 11:56 AM (in response to ewormuth)My practise is to get rid of the application, but keep the catalog file (or files). I Kept my LR 1 catalog files until LR 3 came out and will keep my LR 2 catalog until LR 4. They don't take up that much space. There is no problem in getting rid of the application itself as you can always re install if you require it. LR 1.4.1 and LR 2.7 are still available for download from Adobe.
