Bill Hunt Aug 7, 2010 9:14 AM (in response to frogmike)Can you please tell us about your computer, your Project/Sequence Preset, and your source files, including where they are located?
This ARTICLE will give you tips on what would be so useful and also how to gather some of the info.
Good luck,

4. Re: Freezing when trying to edit
frogmike Aug 7, 2010 10:28 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)8gb DDR3 RAM, i5 750 core, nvidia 250gts gpu, windows 7 HP OS, adobe production suite CS4.
My source files are on my other internal 7200rpm sata drive (same drive my adobe suite is loaded on, my SSD contains mainly my OS), which have always worked fine. Even now, I started up a new project (this one is DV), and everything works as it should.
The last thing I did with my file was export it, which it did just fine. Just now I opened a somewhat older HDV project and it loaded up, a bit slow, and even the timeline clip photos were a bit slow, but it worked. Doing that I now opened up the project that I'm having the issue with, and I click anywhere on the timeline, but it only shows me black. If I click on anything in the source panel, it freezes up right away.
I go to the source files on my computer through explorer and play them with WMP, and they work fine. Argh, can't think of why this is happening.
Thanks.

I have never done this so do not know from personal experience, but I have read in these forums that Adobe software does NOT like to be installed on anything other than the boot (usually C:) drive... click the link above

6. Re: Freezing when trying to edit
frogmike Aug 7, 2010 10:39 AM (in response to John T Smith)Definitely good advice, but the unfortunate reality for me is I only have a 64gb SSD, and fitting my adobe suite onto it just wasn't possible. I even considered only loading the top 2 or 3 programs onto my SSD and the rest onto my 7200rpm drive. But I was only able to install the programs onto one drive, couldn't split between them.
Its always worked fine for the past 4 months, so why a sudden freeze problem now? *sigh*
Thanks.

frogmike Aug 7, 2010 12:38 PM (in response to frogmike)Update:
I reinstalled premier, and that didn't do anything. I reluctantly restarted my computer and loaded up the files. One of the older ones worked, I held my breath and tried the more recent one. After a few moments of a kind of slowish load, it actually worked. Though I had to render everything, it seems to be working!
Not sure what kind of devil hiccup this was, but it seems to work fine now. Thanks for the help though guys.
