1. Re: How to use Actions ? (.atn files)
Noel Carboni Aug 10, 2010 5:15 PM (in response to TomGroupGA)Click once on the name of the action you want to run to highlight it, then press the play button.
Avoid clicking in the boxes to the left, which are the "Enable" and "Prompt" functions.
If you have changed those boxes, your best bet is to remove and reinstall the set by clicking once on the set name to highlight it then using the trash can, then loading the .atn file again.
Hope this helps!

2. Re: How to use Actions ? (.atn files)
TomGroupGA Aug 10, 2010 5:21 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Thanks Noel. I think you have me started in the right direction with "enable" and "prompt"
I didn't know what they were. So I deleted and re-laoded. I have the action highlighted, and the play button is gray'ed out. Next to the
"name" there is a checkbox with a check in it, like all the other actions. Next to that, there is a blank box. All the other actions have an image of what looks like a file. This square image appears Red in some of the actions, and appears gray in others. In my new action, the image doesn't appear at all.

3. Re: How to use Actions ? (.atn files)
Noel Carboni Aug 10, 2010 5:50 PM (in response to TomGroupGA)Do you have an image open? The play button will only highlight when an image is available to play an action on.
The little red or black tiny icons in the second column are "prompt" icons. You can set an entire action or an individual step to prompt you by enabling these icons. If it is blank the action is set to play all the way through without stopping. Most actions designers don't expect you to change those.

4. Re: How to use Actions ? (.atn files)
Zeno Bokor Aug 11, 2010 12:07 AM (in response to TomGroupGA)When the Play button is grayed out do you have an action selected in the Actions panel or the whole set (the one with the folder icon)? You cannot play action sets so the Play button should be grayed out when you have an action set selected.
Also, actions are just saved steps, if some of them pop up a dialog box that you have to OK out of then that's how the action was recorded (unless you messed with it), probably because the action needs some input from you like making a selection or something like that. After you've done what the dialog box told you to simply press Play again and it'll continue running the action from where it left off.
