1. Re: Streaming Live Video in Realtime
SE_0208 Aug 11, 2010 10:02 PM (in response to chande a k)Basically you will need three things:
1. Streaming Server - For streaming your live content
2. Web Server - To host your Client-accessible content which would be nothing but Flash Movies (.swf or .html containing .swf files)
3. Software to develop client application i.e. Flash Movies - like Flash CS5 or Flash Builder (earlier known as Flex)
4. Publisher client to stream live content
Adobe has Streaming Server Solution which comes in two flavors:
Interactive Server: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediainteractive/
Streaming Server: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediastreaming/
1.Adobe also provides free Development Server so that you can try FMS out and see how it works. It has all functionalities of FMIS but with 10 connection limit.
You can go through links and decide for yourself which fits your requirements (also consider long terms prospects when you put in your money)
2. Web Server: There are lots in market and you can get whichever of your choice or contact any web -hosting company to host your content.
3. Client Development: Again here, either you can buy Flash CS4 or Flash Builder and develop your custom clients as per your need or you can re-use some of already develop clients which are available in market - some of the developers might be there who are develop clients for selling and there should be free clients too. If its bare minimum you can use VideoPlayer which comes with Flash Media Server Installation.
4. I would recommend to use FMLE which you can find here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/flashmediaencoder/
I know you might feel this is big list of things but believe me its not that tough to get it working

chande a k Aug 11, 2010 10:29 PM (in response to SE_0208)Thank you for your guidance,
I am a master in my field of work, that is videography, editing, authoring etc
( though encoding for DVD takes considerable time }
But I am quite new for this type of job, for live streaming of event.
I want more clarification from you, I will be recording EVENT with my DV cameras,
capturing Video, In Mini Dv, output to computer through FIREWIRE,
Why I NEED FLASH CS4/FLASH CS5..? will encoding be in realtime..?
Your other points I have noted will acquire necessary software for this purpose,
Thank you once again

SE_0208 Aug 11, 2010 10:43 PM (in response to chande a k)See you need Flash CS4/CS5 - just for authoring clients - if you have pre-built clients you don't need Flash Authoring.
See the feed from your camera, will have to go encoder which in this case would be FMLE, FMLE will take input from your camera and then stream it to FMS. You clients would connect to Flash Movies hosted on your webserver to see the live content and Flash Movie would be connect to FMS to stream down the content.
Have i been able to explain things better now?

ElectronicEvolution2 Aug 12, 2010 6:47 PM (in response to chande a k)What type of internet are you going to have at the wedding and how many people are going to be watching? You might be better off renting a streaming server for a month if its going to be high bandwidth. An average stream with audio and decent video, you're looking at like 400-600kbs, and unless you're going to be connected to a T1 backbone, you're not going to have much bandwidth to stream to more than a few people at once.
This is a good place http://www.primcast.com/flashmediaserverhosting that you could rent a server for a month and use it for the day and bill the client. You can then use the FREE Flash Media Live Encoder to take the video and audio from your DV camera and send it to the server. You would still need a webpage though to embed the stream from the streaming server. If you have a website for your company, you could use that as it would require almost no bandwidth as the actual video would come from the streaming server and use their bandwidth. I would even go as far to maybe rent a server on a monthly basis and offer this server to all your clients. Want grandma to watch the wedding from home live? Then charge a good fee to pay for the streaming server and make a nice profit. $50 a month would probably more than cover a few weddings and what not a month and I'm sure you add on a $50 per wedding fee for live broadcast. Make a small password protected folder on your site to host the video player (primcast gives you an automatic generator to generate the HTML code to stream the video and even hosts the flash player from their site.) It could be setup realitivity cheap and add a nice option for all your weddings. All you have to do is sell 1 package at $50 a month and the rest is profit.

greg•hamer Aug 12, 2010 7:34 PM (in response to ElectronicEvolution2)For a FREE video player, Adobe now also provides one, known as the Flash Media Playback video player!
No Flash authoring required :-) Super top quality (built on OSMF). Easy to configure! And hosted on Adobe.com. Plus potentially faster downloads as it is the only video player that has Flash Player caching enabled (aka SWZ filetype).
Flash Media Playback video player home page here:
http://adobe.com/products/flashmediaplayback/
Easy, online configuration page here > Flash Media Playback Setup page:
http://osmf.org/configurator/fmp/
Just use the setup page to point to your video, and then embed the generated code in your html page!Overview article here:
http://adobe.com/devnet/video/articles/fmp_player.htmlDemo video on how to use the setup page here:
http://provenwebvideo.com/presentations/2010/fmp/video/FMP_Intro_Using_FMP_Setup_Page/Note: All of the notes above are regarding the video player only. To use the player you first must have encoded and hosted video as others who have already responded on this thread have detailed.
