You can use setTimeout() to delay taking whatever action for 15 seconds. You can find info about it in the help documentation
Please forgive me, I am quite ignorant when it comes to actionscript.
would I put this "setTimeout()" on the actual movie clip, or can I put it on the top level action script.
All i really need is for this infinitely looping movie clip to stop moving after about 15 seconds.
or maybe there is a way to control it using some "Looping" code?
I can't really tell you where you need to put it since I have no idea what it will take to stop whatever it is you are stopping. If it is a movieclip that lives on your main timeline, then all you should need to do is place the setTimeout on the main timeline and use the function it calls to command the movieclip to stop(); You'll need to assign an intance name to the movieclip to be able to tell it to stop.
