Jim Simon Aug 15, 2010 7:48 AM (in response to Andy Bay)Without keyframes, no.

Andy Bay Aug 15, 2010 10:13 AM (in response to Jim Simon)Thats what I'm asking: can the curves be animated with keyframes? Can't find the stopwatch for that.

3. Re: Is it possible to animate RGB or luma curves in Premiere
Ann Bens Aug 15, 2010 10:22 AM (in response to Jim Simon)There is no way you can keyframe the curves.
You could cut the clip up in tiny pieces and use cross dissolves.

4. Re: Is it possible to animate RGB or luma curves in Premiere
Colin Brougham Aug 15, 2010 7:15 PM (in response to Andy Bay)It really depends on the particular effect you're after, but you could create a ramp between the original state of the clip and the altered state, or between two altered states like this:
That won't work in every instance, but it might help in some cases. If you want to start with an altered clip, add an RGB Curves effect to the V1 clip and edit it, and then ramp opacity between V1 and V2.

Colin, your method is the best one!

daveystewart Jan 6, 2013 8:35 AM (in response to Andy Bay)That's madness! You can happily do this in After Effects.

So there is your solution.
BTW: Why did you dredge up this old thread just to say that?

8. Re: Is it possible to animate RGB or luma curves in Premiere
cfg_2451 Jan 7, 2013 6:21 AM (in response to Andy Bay)No keyframing for luma curves. But you CAN keyframe the luma corrector. One of those corrections might do what you want. I've keyframed the "gain" correction to fix a camera on autoexposure that was doing it badly; this worked quite well to fix the problem.

9. Re: Is it possible to animate RGB or luma curves in Premiere
daveystew Jan 9, 2013 2:29 PM (in response to shooternz)It's not really a solution. Who's going to go to all that effort for minutes of video footage! This is why I'm using Premiere, as I have a lot of footage, and it's an editing not an effects job.
I actually got the equivilent result using Levels, but had I wanted to use curves, that would have been a shame. I guess the engineers don't have time to build everything, but I would imagine there is some crossover between the two products.
I dredged the thread up as it was a likely Google result, and I was disappointed Premiere (my first use of since signing up to Creative Cloud) isn't able to do this.
Someone from Adobe may be reading and think "we better make a better solution".
