I'm trying to implement a "fast" pow() method in PB, but it involves register shifting, and I don't know if it's possible. Are there some >> or << operators ? Thanks for your help !
Unfortunately not. Much of the hardware we support doesn't include arithmetic shift operators so
we didn't include them in the language.
Pixel Bender should target State of The Art Hardware.
If supporting "Old" hardware limits you, Don't support it.
I think that if you get rid most of the limitations in the cost of supporting hardware of DX10 and above it would be acceptable.
I couldn't agree more. However, this is often easier said than done. It really helps to hear this kind of feedback from the community and the more of it we get the easier it is to make the case that we should push our hardware requirements forward. Thanks for your feedback.
