Hey guys....I just bought this laptop to do some SD editing on.
My small problem is that it doesn't have a capture card!!! I can't believe i over looked this. Anyways.....it has an hdmi port and several usb ports. What are my options so that I can capture dv from my video camera?
Should I look for a capture card to put in the computer? I would hate to do this because it would take away my warranty......is their a usb to dv cord that works well?
Thanks for all you help and I look forward to hearing from you.
Get a different laptop that includes FW400, or get a tapeless camera or use another computer for capturing and use an external disk to tranfer the material.
Well this time I have to agree with the Grass Valley proponents here.
That is likely your only choice on that laptop outside of Pinnacle for capturing atleast.
As a final note to other editors looking for a mobile solution for video editing. Don't buy one unless it has an express card slot or at the very least USB 3 though the USB 3 will not likely fix the expandability problem for editors at this time. Another year or so it likely will but there is only 1 device now that is USB 3 for video i/o and may not work well on a laptop board.
