    Production Premium Rant

    Antinet Community Member

Leave Premiere and Adobe behind. They wont do anything productive except cost you money and time. Photoshop is fine. The multimedia programs are so buggy as to be ludicrous. After Effects will export things from scratch, but woe betide you if you import anything into it. Premiere is a joke on the mac, and Encore is crash-happy with templates that look like they came out of CorelDraw 1996. I just sent the same AE project into the render queue three times, and when I hit the render button, it tells me I have nothing in the render queue. This is amateur hour folks. I made the mistake of thinking Adobe CS4 Production Premium was a respectable alternative to Apple's monopoly, but I was wrong. Then again, I own plenty of software by other companies that seems to run fine on the Mac, so it must be too little care paid to Mac development in the company. Buh Bye Adobe. Everytime I open your programs (other than Pshop) I end up enraged. Not why one buys software.

Going over your posts for the last year or so, it seems you don't actually want help; you just want to vent.

That's fine, but please start your own topics instead of hijacking other threads with off-topic posts.

If you do actually want help, then please post specific questions about individual applications in the appropriate forum for the application.

Looks like Jeff split this off from elsewhere. I think that The Lounge is where this belongs. It's a good place to vent. Now, we don't get much venting about Adobe programs here, but I think that it's because most of us do not have problems with most Adobe programs, and many make a good living with them.

Still, venting on Adobe's programs is not off-limits, especially in The Lounge.

I am sorry that you have had so many issues. From Jeff's comments, I wonder how many posts might have been asking for help getting things to run, and run properly. You might be amazed at the number of users, who have all, or most, of their problems solved by the folk in the product fora. Their track record is very, very good. Over the years, I can only recall a handful of people leaving without at least one viable solution under their arm.

By now, you have probably dropped PrPro for FCP and Encore for Sonic Scenarist. AE has been replaced by something, but I cannot imagine what. If not, consider taking some time, composing a post with all the details, and uploading it to the appropriate product forum. This ARTICLE will give you some tips on how best to state your problem, what details to furnish, and even suggest how you title the post.

Otherwise, rant away, though you might not get a lot of support. At least we can route other rants to this thread. There might not be enough to keep you company, but maybe I am wrong.

            Good luck,

            Hunt

If you bring your After Effects issue(s) to the After Effects forum, we'll help you there.

PC person.  Half the cost of Apple.  Quad Core Q8200, Win 7 Professional 64 bit, 6 GB of RAM.  Flawless performance.  Encore is not my favorite thing either.  Apple is getting left behind in the support of AVCHD and other advanced codecs.  SD world they rule.  Its kind of like being the world's best COBOL programming on CP/M machines.

I shall admit, in my FCS2 I feel like the king of the SD world. And I'm in love with specific other formats as well(pro res anyone?).

I am however tired of Apple being unreasonable to Pro users. OP needs to realize that CS4(which I still have on this mac) is like the early stages of Vista, but what I think, was a key stepping stone to creating the epic CS5. In a community where others can chime in and help to push the program's limits you're obviously going to have the support needed. Apple has, imho, closed off contact with it's pro users and their needs and desires for the systems as well as the software to stay that notch above the rest. Maybe 2-3 years from now they'll open back up and push to regain their lost, top spot. For now..... A well built PC and CS5 is the way forward.

                  Sincerely, An Angry Apple Fanboy
