    Clean URL's in Static site....

Hi, thanks for reading. I just know I'm being really dim, so your indulgance will be a kindness.

I've got a simple essentially flat php site - it has a few include files and processes a bit of xml, but there is no database which is what clean urls are usually concerned with.

      Now, if I code....

      /somecleanurl

Dreamweaver goes 'wat links?' and doesn't update them if I change a file name etc., Now firstly: am I right thinking the search engines archive the link in the code, not the link as it appears (rewritten by htaccess rewrite rules) in the browser address bar? And secondly.. is there a way to set Dreamweaver up to deal with this, because I've not found it... though it's quite possibly really obvious. Thirdly... am I all back-to-front on this anyway?

My saving grace is that at least I've sufficient wit to know I'm dim... perhaps I'm just too tired to tie a pair of shoelaces. Thank you for any guidance. All the best.
