1. Re: tape1081 vs progressive?
able123 Aug 22, 2010 7:28 PM (in response to Brit.b)Sorta depends on a few things... the lens on camera ( believe it or not, that still matters ) and what "type" of video format the camera uses and what editor version you want to use...some avchd stuff is sometimes problematic on some versions of premiere...
All in all, newer stuff is pretty good but do your homework first about what you can edit well on your computer and NLE
If you can, shoot some sample stuff with a camera and bring it into your editor and see how it works first..
ps...also depends a bit on what your "delivery" is gonna be...what you have to end up with ( export to )

2. Re: tape1081 vs progressive?
John T Smith Aug 22, 2010 8:30 PM (in response to Brit.b)As already said... that depends on a lot of factors
To be able to use CS5 to edit AVCHD I built a new computer, with a link inside my CS5/AVCHD 1st Impressions http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694?tstart=0
You MAY be able to edit AVCHD with CS4 and the computer(s) you have now... but you also may need to convert to a different codec
Convert AVCHD to HDV http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390605?tstart=0
or Cineform Neo Scene http://www.cineform.com/neoscene/
