Help - replaced computer, being forced to upgrade.

I bought CS4 Web premium for Windows in late 2009.  In July I replaced my Windows computer with a Mac.  I have tried for HOURS to simply change my CS4 license to Mac, but Adobe customer support insists they cannot provide a CS4 key and transfer my license since CS5 has been released. They insist the only way for me to use my software on Mac is to buy an expensive upgrade to CS5!

I do not want or need an upgrade to CS5, I simply want to use CS4 (which I have had for less than a year) on my new computer.  It appears to be unfortunate for me that CS5 came out since Adobe refuses to transfer my license without paying for an upgrade I DO NOT want or need.

I checked that license transfers were possible before I bought my Mac, but I never imagined I would be FORCED to upgrade since CS5 was released. Is there any way out of this or have I wasted hundreds of dollars on software I can no longer use?
