Can't be done.
You could make the source of an IFrame be the PDF file, though.
I tried that (iframe) and it did not work
It should work fine. Let's see your code please.
This is all I did...
<iframe src="documents/Pellets_Propane_Heating_Oil_Calculator_Marth3.pdf" />
Perhaps I am, doing something wrong as I do not usually use iFrame.
That should certainly work, provided the path is correct. You would have to size the iframe to properly contain the PDF as well....
Create a PDF folder in your DW local site.
Copy or move your PDF file to the PDF folder in your local site.
Copy & paste this code into a new, blank HTML page and save.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Parent page</title> </head> <body> <iframe id="iframe1" name="iframe1" height="600" width="940" scrolling="auto" src="PDF/Pellets_Propane_Heating_Oil_Calculator_Marth3.pdf"> </iframe> </body> </html>
If you have the required Acrobat plug-ins installed, you should be able to see it when you preview in browser.
Ok...after messing with this, I am thinking that the html code is working but something is peculiar with the PDF (which was created by a third party incidentally).
I created a test page with the code as follows..
The above did not work. I then tried to open the PDF itself and got a blank screen. What is weird is that I can open it up locally with no problem. Here is a link to the pdf...
Yup. Must be a file problem
"This file appears to use a new format that this version of Acrobat does not support. Some things may not display correctly. Suggest upgrading Acrobat... yada, yada, yada.."
Click OK - nothing displays.
I really like this option for embedding PDF's into Dreamweaver web pages. However, I am a novice. Is this a complex procedure?
For example, I do not know how to "Pull the (long) url out of that embed code's movie parameter value" as stated on the Floatbox link you provided.
Is there enough tutorial documentation at that site to get me through this?
With sincere thanks,
NEVER MIND. I GOT IT.
