in my web app, users can load a file from their local machine and then "save as" it back to their local machine after having worked on it. This is ok, but not ideal - most people would like to just go through Ctrl + S and be done with it as opposed to having to go through the dialog boxes that come with the save as process. I've read that what I'd like to do is easy in Air and seems not exactly allowed in Flex. But then again, it seems like Flex is growing and lots more things are possible ("save as" for instance). Also at times there seem to be tricks to do certain things - I've read about local shared objects a bit and someone seemed to think that they could be used for something like this? Anyway... would love to get any advice from those of you who've dealt with this.
I'm not entorely sure, but I think FileReference.save requires a user interaction. i.e. clicking a button.
I'm not sure how this is checked, so what you could try doing is dispatching a click event from a button to simulate a click.
Bu I have no idea if this actually work.
