Adobe Reader works fine on Windows 7. I don't know how a download can get your program files getting corrupted.
An earlier version of Adobe Reader (9.0 or 9.1) did contain Adobe AIR, but the latest version does not. You can download it directly from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3.3/enu/AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe without any download managers.
Thank you very much for your reply. This is a different download
source than what Adobe shows at their site:
(I didn't opt for the McAfee offer, and their was no choice on the "Air"
I think the problem is Kaspersky 2010 and Adobe 9.3.3 on a win7 OS. For
some reason, Kaspersky / Win7 doesn't seem to like Adobe. Googling this
problem seems to indicate that I'm not the only one failing to install
reader on win7.
Anyway, thanks again for taking time to reply.
After doing an image backup, I tried your download source and it did
the same as the previous three downloads except this time it didn't
install "Adobe Air". After running AdbeRdr933_en_US.exe, there was no
"reader" installed anywhere, the system started slowing down. Couldn't
open MS Word, none of my astronomy programs, or email. Another image
restore and I'm back. Maybe I need more memory and faster processor.
Currently running an Intel i5 quad4 w/ 4 gigs RAM.
I do not mean to be facetious, and I appreciate your attempts to help
but I'll wait until Adobe and MS can get together and provide users with
a simple PDF reader. Completely disgusting.
