1. Re: IK Bone Tool - How to change the picture of a bodypart in animation?
ColdDasani-EVXJOm Aug 30, 2010 1:02 PM (in response to ColdDasani-EVXJOm)Does nobody have an answer?
Another example: I wanna store different mouth pictures etc in the puppets head so I can make a mouth animation later to sync it to audio. But how could I do this? It would be perfect to store different pictures in the movie clips so I can choose them for each pose. I know its possible in ToonBoom Studio.

mldb88 Aug 30, 2010 1:37 PM (in response to ColdDasani-EVXJOm)Just draw a different graphic symbol or add frames to what you have, depending on which appraoch is easier for you. You can add a keyframe inthe main timeline and either swap symbol with the new one, or set the starting frame of the object to the frame the desired position is on using the properties window if you used the add frames approach.

4. Re: IK Bone Tool - How to change the picture of a bodypart in animation?
ColdDasani-EVXJOm Aug 31, 2010 7:54 AM (in response to mldb88)But swapping it through the properties windows swaps it for the whole animation. That is good for getting animations with different objects in the characters hands, but its not exactly how I want it. I only want it to be swapped for the frames in which I set it to something else, and then it goes back to normal.
Like the character runs and closes his eyes while running, so I wanna switch the picture of the eyes for those few frames. I don't exactly understand how you mean that.
I'm not sure how you mean that with the adding frames in the timeline, maybe that is exactly what I mean but I dont understand it. Do you mean in the main timeline? I don't get it. If I put another frame in one of the movie clips (for the hand for example) it plays the whole time, so it changes between the two hand versions all the time while he is walking.
And to the video link above, that only seems to explain the basic bone thing, not my question. I already have a skeleton set up.

mldb88 Aug 31, 2010 8:08 AM (in response to ColdDasani-EVXJOm)Is the hand animated in any aside from the other position? If not, you need to put a stop action on the keyframes to keep it from animating.
stop();

ColdDasani-EVXJOm Aug 31, 2010 8:50 AM (in response to mldb88)No it is not animated yet. You mean going to actions in the keyframe and put stop(); there? But how would I then switch to another picture of the hand for some frames? It will always switch it for the whole animation, won't it? What if the hand should be open in only 5 frames of the animation?

ColdDasani-EVXJOm Sep 2, 2010 2:22 PM (in response to ColdDasani-EVXJOm)Please, someone help me. I would be so thankful if someone could help me resolve this. I can't seem to figure it out on my own, and I already have everything else I need in place, I only need this to continue with my animation.

chris georgenes Oct 31, 2011 12:32 PM (in response to ColdDasani-EVXJOm)You will want to use Graphic symbols and not Movie Clip symbols. This is a common mistake. Graphic symbols allow for properties that Movie Clips do not have:
1. Graphic symbols are in sync with the main timeline and other nested animations in other graphic symbols.
2. You can control what frame is visible inside a graphic symbol.
That said, as an example; in your "hand" symbol (Graphic behavior), create additional hand poses on different keyframes.
On parent timeline click on the instance of the symbol.
Properties Panel under the "Looping" category select from 1 of 3 options in the drop-down menu:
- Single Frame
- Loop
- Play Once
Select "Single Frame".
Then type the frame number of the hand you want to be visible.
