I currently work with CS5 and own a macbook 13" (white unibody) with maxed out 4GB RAM. Whenever I export HDV video to MPEG2-DVD the fan runs constantly and can take 12 hours for a 1 hour video to finish. Not sure if this is normal? Afraid my macbook is going to fry? I would like to upgrade my system to an iMac or Macbook Pro with more RAM & GPU card for Premiere's 64-bit Mercury Processing Majiggi ?!?
I need some good feedback from those that edit video on a regular basis (what's in your Mac) what do you recommend for the highest performance?
You might want to post this in the hardware section http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/hardware_forum
Use a title "something like" that below (but do some reading/searching first)
Best Mac hardware to run CS5?
I agree with John T.
Laptops of all brands has issues with cooling. If you do not have a good, multi-fan laptop cooler, I strongly suggest that you get one. I like my Zalman, but it could use two more fans. After a bit, when adding fans, one does need to listen to audio and music with headphones, but heat is a real killer.
