I use the location-fields in LR to create a hierarchy of where the picture is shot (rather than using keywords that some people do), but I find it very annoying to have to fill inn City/State/Province/Country each time, when in most cases Location should do. So I am wondering if it is possible to use the SDK to create a function that will automatically fill in the missing information based on previous images that were tagged with the same location.
I am a programmer myself, but having not enough spare time to do stuff like this, I'd appreciate if any experienced plugin-developers can provide me with some comments/information to at least kick me off in the right direction :-)
1. Download the SDK (really just documentation and samples - the SDK is implemented by Lightroom proper) - search and you'll find.
2. Download some examples that do something similar and go for it. There's example source code at http://www.robcole.com/Rob/ProductsAndServices/MiscLrPlugins.
Key function lr-photo:setRawMetadata
Thank you very much. I'll have a look at your examples and see if I can twist them into what I need :-)
