I keep getting the "runtime" error, which then shuts down the application. I've uninstalled all Adobe software, then reinstalled Reader v. 9.3.4 yesterday, to no avail. Mine is 64-bit Windows 7 running on a new Dell desktop (Inspiron 580).
I'd appreciate any suggestions. I've used Adobe Reader over the years on Windows 95, 98, XP, and Vista, with no problems. Now it refuses to run...
I suggest anyone who has experienced a similar issue log on to Microsoft's Windows 7 website and report a compatibility issue (describing the details). That website states that Adobe Reader is compatible with 64-bit Windows 7, but it references version 9.2. The problem is that version 9.2 is no longer available on Adobe's website, only version 9.3.
I am having the very same problem. Every time I try to open a PDF it causes Internet Explorer to stop working. It is very frustrating.
I'm using Firefox, not Internet Explorer. When I try to open a PDF file with Adobe Reader, it shuts down Adobe Reader, but Firefox is still okay. (Sorry that wasn't clear in my original post.)
