    Placing a Flash video

I'm a novice and business owner with precious little learning time so I have to ask for hand-holding here PLEASE...

I'm running DW MX 2004. My proficiency level is enough to have done the following two sites:

      Silver100.com

      SilverFacts.com

I now need to start putting Flash video on my web pages as well.

I have a camcorder, and I have Premiere Elements. I also have a program called WildPresenter Pro, which allows very user-friendly importing of the AVI file that I get from Premiere Elements and outputting it as Flash in SWF format (it even has a dropdown of presets for various basic setting with respect to quality and download speed). Then it also provides a simple feature for adding a basic player to the SWF file as well.

I created a Flash file in SWF format from a simple video I shot and applied a simple player to it. I chose the preset for 56K dial-up for this experiment.

Now I need to figure out how to put that into one of my web pages in Dreamweaver.

I gave it a shot with "Insert -- Medium -- Flash" and then also tried "Insert -- Medium -- Shockwave" and I got a lousy result: shown here.

I need to be able to place this into a smaller frame, or rather one that's appropriate for the size of the player window I'm using. Obviously, when I do this for, say, 300K instead of 56K the player window will be larger (I assume).

I also need to have it not start automatically.

Well, I'm sure there's a very straightforward "how to" somewhere that someone can point me to for the KISS level I'm after here, or maybe it's easier to just give me the few steps right here.

I do perform the searches of help, tutorials, etc as appropriate as s rule. In this case I'm concerned it could be a lot of wading through complex stuff to find the simple basics for what I'm after.

At least, I hope it's going to be simple.

      Thanks so much!

Very difficult to get help around here if you're not a professional...

Come on, folks... I promise to try to keep it simple and pertinent.

PLEASE... I'm dangerously behind on sleep and have a real tiger by the tail with my business (barely paying the rent while investors talk potential 9-figure company… I'm not kidding at all… after many years of insane work to get to this point...).

Wildform TS told me today that I simply needed to add the "click to play" feature they provide before placing it in DW, which I failed to do. And that two placements of the same SWF on a web page without click-to-play will always result in the same thing playing in both upon opening the page. Normal. He also explained when to export my video to FLV (which automatically also creates an SWF for playing it) vs just SWF (based on the SWF size limits). No problem.

So... now what I want to figure out is simply how to control the size/characteristics of the window/frame I'm placing it in in DW. This may be the trickiest part for me to get a handle on. I noticed in my sample web page (above) that in IE6 I could right-click on the lower version (why not the upper?) and select "Zoom in" and the player got a lot bigger without losing much quality at all. I REALLY need to find the fast track to understanding how to control this sizing thing in placing my FLV/SWF files.

Also, I had a forum member reply offline (not sure why) and he mentioned that DW provides various “skins” for these placements, but I’m not sure what he meant or if that relates to what I’m trying to do.

Please give me the steps or point me to the simplest Help/Tutorial that does just this.

          THANKS SO MUCH!!!
