if you define mouse handlers for a parent, mouse events will be intercepted by the parent and child movieclips will not respond to any mouse events.
to remedy, either define all mouse events at the child generation or use a hitTest() for the parent or the child.
not sure how i can use hitTest() to make a button nested in a mc work...?
what do you mean by "define all mouse events at the child generation"?
i didn't nest a movie clip inside of a movie clip, i nested a button inside of a movie clip.
btw, we're both trying to get the same problem solved....
when the parent undergoes a rollover you can start a loop that repeatedly checks if the child movieclip has a positive hitTest with the mouse. on rollout, terminate the loop.
sorry to be a pest but i'm not making a connection on how this will make the button work. would it be too much trouble to post a sample of what you mean by "start a loop that repeatedly checks if the the child moviclip has a positive hitTest with the mouse"...? thanks
