After spending 1 hour trying to upgrade, getting errors, trying tech support, [edited by forum host for obscenity and offensive comment], I'm routed to the 10.0.1 page downloader. But the downloader doesn't work.
Adobe is the new Microsoft.
If you tell us what error messages you were getting and what exactly happens when you try to apply the update, maybe we can help. Being personally insulting is not going to get you closer to a solution.
Error message from Adobe Advisor afte opening the downloaded updater: "Update is not applicable".
also, after filling in a tech support request, and hitting continue, I get a 404 page not found error.
Have you tried using a different browser?
Is it still possible to upgrade to AE CS4?
Not via Adobe. You would need to shop around for an existing retail copy of the upgrade.
I am having the same problem as the user who originally posted.
(I am not the insulting poster, by the way)
- my current version of After Effects CS5 is 10.0.0.458. This was purchased as a retail DVD as part of the Production Premium Suite.
- when I run Adobe Updater from the program it says everything is up to date.
- I downloaded the dmg file directly from Adobe (AfterEffectsRetail-10.0.1-mul-AdobeUpdate.dmg)
- when I run the file off the disk image, it again launches Adobe Application Manager and give me the error message "Update is not applicable."
So I can find no way to install this update.
I am running Mac OSX 10.6.6 on a 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Thank you for your help. I am having the aiff audio bug that others have experienced and documented and would like to be able to install this upgrade.
Thanks for the response.
Will try when i get a moment to do so.
As you suggested I uninstalled, then re-installed After Effects 10 (from the original retail DVDs.)
When I run "Updates..." from the help menu in AE it still tells me that my software is up to date, however I am still running version 10.0.0.458, from the CD. It will not install the updates.
Please let me know if there is a work-around, thank you.
Download the update package manually and apply it, rather than using the Help > Update command. The location of the update package is given on the page I linked to above.
Hmm... for some reason this forum now will not let me view or edit my own post.
I then noticed the Preferences button on the Adobe Updater App.
When I opened that, nothing was checked. Initially I thought this must be the default, and if nothing was checked it would check everything. However since it hadn't been working I tried checking the box next to AE.
After that the update ran successfully.
I am posting this in case other users are having this issue. How the applications got unchecked is a mystery to me, I don't believe it's anything I did.
Thanks for the responses.
