- not sure if CS3 and/or CS4 read all of the CS5 files/formats, or only "some" of them
- but if you are having Encore problems, make sure your files are "legal" for DVD or BluRay -
2. Re: Forcing Encore CS4 not to transcode. Almost given up.
Pijetro Sep 5, 2010 8:08 AM (in response to John T Smith)Thanks John.....
As i said earlier though, AME has all of the preset made ahead of time..I shouldn't have to worry about a reencode from Encore's end. Especially since they're both sharing AME amognst each other for export....
Again, this is only happening with .m2v files for BD..
As a side note, i found some encoding speed differences.
Footage was an 8 minute HDV sequence.
Importing a PPro sequence into Encore yielded a 25 minute encode.
Importing a PPRo sequence into AME yielded an 15 minute encode.
Importing the .m2v asset from AME to Encore yielded a 10 minute "reencode".
Hopefully that might help...
Fwiw, i'm still on CS4....

3. Re: Forcing Encore CS4 not to transcode. Almost given up.
John T Smith Sep 5, 2010 9:51 AM (in response to Pijetro)I don't do BluRay, so can only say that if Encore wants to transcode files that you exported from PPro, there is "something" about the files that is not 100% according to the BluRay specification
Could be either the video or sound... but something is not "right" or Encore would not want to transcode again

5. Re: Forcing Encore CS4 not to transcode. Almost given up.
Pijetro Sep 8, 2010 5:47 PM (in response to Ann Bens)Thanks Ann...
I use the MPEG2 Blu-ray Format, with the Preset of 1440x1080i 29.97 High Quality..I would assume it's idiot proof...
Even with default settings, Encore wants to transcode...
I went ahead and transcoded the whole project...
So let's add insult to injury.
I created a fresh new project, and i brought in the transcoded files from the previous folder...Yes, the folder that Encore creates before an image build.
Encore STILL transcodes those files..I mean, i don't understand how this is happening???
I'm starting to count the clock on this, and let me tell you, this is ridiculous....

6. Re: Forcing Encore CS4 not to transcode. Almost given up.
Stan Jones Sep 8, 2010 9:01 PM (in response to Pijetro)Did you use automatic for the transcode settings in EN? Or you used the preset you describe?
What have you set as the maximum video/audio bitrate for this project? (Project settings, Advanced tab)
I have not done such projects yet, but the default appears to be 15 Mbps (the lowest), and the preset you are using has a target of 25 for the video. I wonder if a mismatch here could produce the symptoms you're seeing.

Ann Bens Sep 9, 2010 1:20 PM (in response to Pijetro)Try H264 BluRay, 1440x1080i 29,97 high quality and set audio to Dolby.

Pijetro Sep 9, 2010 5:05 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Did you use automatic for the transcode settings in EN? Or you used the preset you describe?
I created a premade .m2v file, so the auto transcode is no good to me.
I ended up using an Encore preset to transcode the videos..Of course, i changed the bitrate to suit my needs..
What have you set as the maximum video/audio bitrate for this project? (Project settings, Advanced tab)
I have tried all of them...Encore still perceives the assets as untranscoded.
Try H264 BluRay, 1440x1080i 29,97 high quality and set audio to Dolby
Yes, but the transcode times go through the roof...I typically have about 2.5 hours of HDV footage...
Mpeg2 at 18 mbps give me satisfactory results...H264 is not necessary in my case..
Again, this is only with .m2v files that i use within templates that come with AME.
I've done extensive encoding in the past. Unless there's an anomoly (like GOP structure) that i'm missing, i'm at a loss.
As i use the friendly search functions, it's clear to see that I'm not the only one with this issue. Thanks to everybody for their patience...
