A good start would be to ask in the InDesign SDK forum!
To get you up and running, use this checklist:
[ ] InDesign CS3 debug version (not required but strongly recommended)
[ ] SDK (= Software Development Kit) for InDesign CS3 (freely downloadable, but you'll have to search for it)
[ ] Microsoft Visual Studio (check the SDK requirements; I'm not sure which version you need, but certainly not the latest)
[ ] Expert level in C++ programming
[ ] Loads and loads of hands-on experience with InDesign
If you cannot answer all of these questions with a resounding "yes", you don't have enough experience to even get started, and you are better off paying someone to write a custom plugin for you.
Let's not forget that "getting started" could take 3 to 6 months...
Harbs, do you know what happens when you write and compile a script with VBS or C#? Those get compiled into EXEs, don't they -- can they still be interrupted with Esc?
(Perhaps Robin Tkaczyk -- www.adobescripts.com -- can answer that, although he's been off-line for a while.)
It's even hard to start with Flash Builder I tried to make panel, and everything went well, but never succeeded to connect it with InDesign. Then I tried some examples, but I failed again I just tried to retrieve active document name. Maybe one day I'll have more luck
Hi experts thanks a lot for your suggestions.
I have to learn some more in c++.
