    Library Symbol Linking and Inheritance

    deriel
      Hello, this is my first forum post so forgive me if I make some horrible faux pas.

      I'm migrating some code from AS 2 to AS 3 and am stuck on the following compiler error:

      5000: The class 'ImageGrid' must subclass 'flash.display.MovieClip' since it is linked to a library symbol of that type.

      ImageGrid is a library symbol, in my main .fla file, which is defined as class ImageGrid and uses flash.display.MovieClip as its base class. The green checkmark points to the correct place for the ImageGrid.as file, which looks like:

      import flash.display.MovieClip;

      class ImageGrid extends MovieClip {
      ...
      }

      So what am I missing, here? I couldn't find anything in the forum search about this, but maybe I'm using it wrong. Otherwise I figure it's something simple that I'm just not getting. Any help is much appreciated, including pointers to the right FM to R.
