Extreme overclocking... is it really necessary?

Recently, I found out that my i7 930 is an overclock dud... Apparently, I have one of the worst batches for overclocking and i've been bummed out about it since I can't return it.  So this has me wondering... Sure overclocking helps put out impressive benchmark scores and gaming performance but does premiere get any significant gain out of this?  Or does the real benefit come from a good hard drive configuration and more ram?

For those who haven't purchased there i7 930 and plan on overclocking, take note of this...
