    CS4 "Unable to create drawing surface"

    um3k Level 1

      Any ideas? I'm about ready to throw my computer out the window.

          My graphics driver is up to date. After Effects is updated to 9.0.2. OpenGL is turned off AND the plugin is removed from the folder. It happens when I copy and paste several filters. Also when I apply a preset. I am using pixel bender filters. My graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GT 230.

            Also getting "Can't create GWorld" and "out of memory" when that couldn't possibly be the case.

              Does it happen when you're not using any Pixel Bender effects?

              What effects are you using when this happens?

              What operating system?

                Windows 7 64-bit. I don't think the Pixel Bender effects are the problem. Anyways, I'm not about to go through the entire project and delete every single pixel bender effect. I don't know if I even can. The usual set of suspects are:

                Halsubalance (PB)

                HDR Highlight Compression

                Linear_Vignette (PB, usually turned off)

                Curves

                Hue/Saturation

                I've been stuck for three days on a project I need to complete by the 20th. I'm about at my wit's end. Everything I've tried has either had no effect or has given me a new set of errors. I really don't know what to do at this point.

                  You don't have to delete them. You can just turn them off.

                  If it's crucial, then you might want to consider doing what I suggested.

                    I disabled all the pixel bender effects. I tried copying some effects and pasting them onto a couple clips. This time, it gave me an error message I couldn't see because it was behind the main window. Oh, it popped up again, in front. "Unable to create drawing surface." After a series of those I got something about a 480x270 buffer that I reflexively closed before reading. My log file is 60MB. Most of it is this looped over and over again (line 2160-678242):

                    Ticks = 583881      <5588> <LegacyALOG> <5> OpenGL PurgeRequest() Succeeded: FALSE

                    Ticks = 583881      <5588> <LegacyALOG> <5> OpenGL PurgeRequest() Succeeded: FALSE

                    Ticks = 583881      <5588> <LegacyALOG> <5> MC PURGE_STATS numFreed:0, numWalked:0, Total: 0

                    Ticks = 583881      <5588> <LegacyALOG> <5> OpenGL PurgeRequest() Succeeded: FALSE

                    Ticks = 583881      <5588> <LegacyALOG> <5> OpenGL PurgeRequest() Succeeded: FALSE

                    Followed by:
