Pankaj-Adobe Story Team Sep 20, 2010 3:37 PM (in response to dgould3)The message may be misleading. Can you try exporting to text and then importing the text document?

Aurobi Sep 20, 2010 9:35 PM (in response to dgould3)Hi,
If it is possible to send us your word document to investigate, it would also help us in debugging the issue. You may choose to send the document to adatta at adobe dot com.
Please rest assured that the script will be used only for debugging only.
Thanks

3. Re: Can't import Word document
dgould3 Sep 20, 2010 9:58 PM (in response to Pankaj-Adobe Story Team)I'd really like the formatting, etc to be imported which isn't possible with a text file. Are "Research" documents only plain-text
?

Swapnil -AdobeStory Team Sep 26, 2010 8:42 PM (in response to dgould3)Hey,
Sorry for the delay in response. We would like you to kindly verify a few things:
- Are you facing the issue consistently with any word doc you try to import?
- Is this browser specific? Please try the same with any browser other than the one you have already tried with. If so kindly report the browser and its version info
- Is this system specific? If yes please include the information of the OS and it's version.Have you tried the same from a different machine.
- The flash player version you are currently using?
Hope these n questions don't seem overwhelming but this would be really helpful for us in isolating the issue. Thanks for the patience.
Regarding your other question: All the following documents are free form documents as of now , with no special formatting:
Logline
Character-bio
Pitch
Research
Summary
Synopsis
Other document
Do you suggest some standard formatting for these?
Your suggestions are welcome. They aid us in getting better
Thanks,
Adobe Story Team

ChrisX76 Oct 2, 2010 4:08 PM (in response to Swapnil -AdobeStory Team)I had a similar issue trying to copy/paste from word. Adobe Story does not maintain the formatting at all. I was looking forward to using Adobe Story for this story, but because of the massive amount of reformatting that would have needed to redone, I decided stick with MS Word and email.

6. Re: Can't import Word document
Sandeep (Story team) Oct 5, 2010 11:35 PM (in response to ChrisX76)Hi,
Thanks for providing your valuable feedback. Currently Adobe Story does not maintain formatting on copy/paste from word. We do have this feature in our backlog. Currently its not on our priority list but we will get to it as soon as possible.
There are few workarounds that we could suggest you:
- Story supports import of word documents so you can import your word document in story and it will maintain the formatting and elements.
- If you just want to copy a part of your word document you can still import your word document in Story, open it inside Story, and copy the text from inside of Adobe Story itself. Now when you will paste it inside another Story script, the formatting will be preserved.Hope this information helps and brings you back to Adobe Story. We look forward to hearing any enhancements/issues that you would like to bring out to us.
Thanks
