Okay I see what's happening. I accidentally placed an "IN" point past all my clips, as evident in/out highlighted area in the timecode ruler above the clips. Obviously with any clips outside the in/out point doesn't have any automation applied.
I have not heard of this. Does Touch add the Track Keyframes?
Also, the Track is not Locked, is it?

That has been happening to me quite a lot today. Glad that you posted back, as I saw the (Updated), and found the cure. That gives me something else to ask about, should I run across this again.

I was having the same problem and thought I was going out of my mind!
Then indeed, after reading your post I looked back at my timeline "ruler" and the area above the main in and out "brackets" was partially not "greyed". I slid it over to the beginning of my timeline and the write worked.
It was one of those situaitons where I was so baffled -- I was actually embarrassed to ask it on the forum.
