    Scenes in PE8

Is it possible to manually divide clips into scenes or adjust scene content after they are automatically determined? The auto doesn't split the scenes well in my experience. I'd like to divide the clip, usually quite long, into workable pieces.

Yes, just use the cutter to split the clip wherever you want.

And, even if you use the automatic scene splitter in Premiere Elements (by right-clicking on a longer clip on the Project panel), you can still manually tweak the splits.

This is because these split scenes are not actually shorter clips. They're the original clips, abbreviated with In and Out Points applied so that only a segment of them plays when you lay them on your timeline.

You can easily double-click on these clips to open the Clip Monitor and then adjust the positions of the In and Out Points to expand or contract the length of the clip.
