      Photoshop CS5 Extended and Thumbnails

I have been thinking it this would work - I want to create a psd file with the background file being the layout for making thumbnails for comic book pages, storyboards etc. After creating the image and making it the background layer I would like to create a new layer from the bakground layer (of of background layer) draw on it and/or add images to it (re-sizing themto fit in the drawing area) - then back to background layer and create another copy layer from it > keep doing this until the drawings are done for each page (comic book) or for film frames.

My question is how many layers can I create in one file?

Once the file is complete how can I get a seperate file for each layer? I have thought about the animation tools but if that is the way to go to get each layer saved as a seperate file then how is that done?

      TIA
