I have a strange issue where some Flash content won’t display.
For example, if I visit this post http://mashable.com/2010/09/26/elmo-questions-video/ I see a placeholder where the embedded YouTube video should be. See screen print to see what I mean http://img.whirltools.com/viewer.php?file=48043401119022349323.png
I’m running the latest version of Flash (10.1.85.3) as can be seen from this screen print from the About Flash page http://img.whirltools.com/viewer.php?file=94751183533924454383.png
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash in accordance with the instructions on the Adobe site but this has been to no avail. I have also checked the ActiveX and JavaScript settings and all of these are correct.
I’m running Windows 7 32-bit with all of the latest update. The version number for Internet Explorer is 8.0.7600.16385.
This is very frustrating as I can’t pinpoint why Flash is working on some sites, but not others. Perhaps it is the way these sites are embedding YouTube? Having said this, I have another machine with what I consider to be the same set-up yet the embedded YouTube videos work OK. I have been through all of the security and advanced settings in Internet Explorer for both these machines and found them to be identical.
Any assistance you guys might be able to provide would be appreciated. Thanks.
ADDED:
Just an update on this:
I can confirm that all works as it should under the Windows 7 administrator account but it does not work under limited user account. That is, the embedded YouTube link on Mashable will not load.
Despite having uninstalled and installed Flash previously, I have again done this, but this time directly under the administrator account. Unfortunately, the result is the same: I can see the Mashable link correctly under the administrator account, but not under the limited user account.
I have also reset all Internet Explorer settings, also to no avail.
This is very frustrating.

After literally wasting all day trying to resolve this issue I found the answer here http://dmoisan.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!95CB015E3E4A702A!2596.entry
This caught my eye: “This happens when running IE8 under a limited user account, but not when it is run as the local admin.”
So, a big thanks to the author of that blog.
The answer, just to repeat it here is:
As many of us in the Adobe support forums suspected, it is a permissions problem. This is the fix:
1. Close all instances of IE.
2. Get the Flash Uninstaller from Adobe and run it elevated as admin. You need to get the latest version from Adobe as it is updated with each new revision of Flash.
3. Run Regedit and find this registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/MIME/Database/Content Type/Application/x-shockwave-flash. Delete the key.
4. Reinstall Flash from IE.
5. Browse to the pages that weren't displaying properly, and verify that they display successfully.
I am growing very tired of all of these Flash-related security and other issues. Where is the quality control in this product?
