    restore catalog

    Jean- Pierre Lemonde Community Member

I had to reinstall Windows XP and all the programs including PE8. All my data are still on my two hard disks at the same place that they were before crash and in the right software. My 15 000 photos are on the dedicated hard disk but not in PE8. I execute the right procedure in order to restore the catalog:File/Restore from hard disk/select the proper disk. From there I cannot go any further, impossible to select all the photos and also to click on restore. I did not made a back up with PE8 but with Sync Back on an external Disk. What ca I do to have them in PE8 like before.

      Thank's.

The files can be restored only if youhad taken the backup of the catalog. Do you have the old catalog files with you. If yes, then you need to open the same catalog in PSE and then you can perform the reconnect operation. In case you don't have the catalog files, then you need to import the images again in the catalog.

Did you use Sync Back to make a copy of the PSE catalog file?

I use Sync Back to make a back up of every data contained in my two hard disk. Of course, these were made through SB and through PE8.

              Thank's

This is vague, because I don't know what you mean by "every data". What do you (what does Sync Back) consider to be data?

I asked if you made a backup of your catalog file, the only two answers that make sense to me is "Yes" or "No". I suppose I could also accept "I don't know" as a valid answer.
