Yep, I have the same problem. Please help someone...
Do you currently have Adobe Reader installed? If so, uninstall that version.
Next, try to install it with the MSI installer http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi
the installer shows its 32 bit? I need 64 bit anyways it doesn't show its installing in any windows on my pc. It just has the 2 instances of msiexec.exe running. one at 12-13% cpu one at 0%
also this is a fresh install of windows 7 with all updates.... It never wants to install so i never even got to use adobe reader on this machine, now i really need it.
The two msi processes you see are actually running under different authentications. If you check the "User Name" for these processes, you will notice that one of them is for SYSTEM and other is for the logged in user.
One of these processes is crashing on your machine. One workaround you can try is to install Reader from some other user account. If that doesn't help, then upgrade your from Windows Installer Engine from microsoft.com
Hope this helps!!!
I cannot install the windows installer update 4.5 anything else i should try? Its only for vista and previous versions of windows????
Winwows 7 already comes with windows installer 5.0
The problem you are stating is related to corrupt behaviour by windows installer service. You should try to seek help from microsoft support to get this fixed.
And as Adobe Reader works fine on my Win7 (x64) machine, i see no other reason for this kind of failure.
