When you say,
unable to use Quicktime
exactly what do you mean? Do you not have Apple QT Player installed?
MovieMaker 2.0 is automatically installed on a Windows XP system. Version 2.6 is free and works on XP, Vista and W7 (32 & 64 bit versions). Download it from Microsoft here: Download details: Windows Movie Maker 2.6
Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your children
Per the program's systems requirements, you MUST have Quicktime installed on your computer. It supports virtually all PC-based video editing, and plays an integral part in a number of the program output settings.
Just to toss in another factor...
I recently bought a Flip UltraHD camera so my wife could "play" with a "cheap" camera instead of my $1k Canon Vixia
This camera uses the XDCAM EX 720p 30p setting, wrapped in an MP4 codec
Last night I joined YouTube and uploaded a small file that came direct from the camera... no editing
YouTube did whatever it does, and the video plays... search YouTube for user JohnTSmith47 to view
And that's, of course, what Flip cams were originally designed for -- shooting video and loading it directly to YouTube.
However, there's been enough interest in editing this video that Adobe decided to support it with version 9 of the software.
I think that John T's ultimate (ulterior?) motive was to keep his lovely wife busy with the Flip, so that she wouldn't drag his expensive camera out to the garden to film their "guest worker bunny."
And yes, the Flips do seem to be gaining in popularity - at least to the point that Adobe took notice.
I don't know if stark TERROR is a good motive... but that is why I bought the Flip for my wife to use
She won't read user manuals... and doesn't understand if she does read
Her office chair & computer are just a few feet away from mine... and I constantly hear her talking to her computer (more like yelling at it, when it does what she TOLD it to do, instead of what she wants it to do)
She can call me to fix a problem and, 5 seconds after doing "whatever" she can't remember or explain what she did to cause the computer problem
There is NO way I am going to let her get near my $1k Canon Vixia !!!
A Flip camera is exactly right for her... just as soon as she learns to make SLOW, SMOOTH movements so the video doesn't jump around so much
