    Help before I get crazy

    Lundin123

      Hi, I'm trying to make a flash banner in CS3 with click tag following the instructions below

      A. Flash MX 2004, Flash 8, Flash CS3 Instructions:
      1 Create a new bottom layer; make it the full pixel size of the ad and fill it with the desired background color.
      2 Click once on the new layer to select it - then right click and choose 'Convert to Symbol…'
      3 Under 'Type' select 'Button'
      4 Give the Symbol a name (like Click Through) and hit OK.
      5 Make sure your button is selected, then open the Actions panel, and attach the following script to the button
      on (release) {
      if (clickTAG.substr(0, 5) == "http:") {
      getURL(clickTAG, clickTARGET);
      }
      }

      I do exactly as it says in the instruction but it doesn't work. Have spent hours now doing it over and over again.

      I got templates from the company but they must be in a newer version and they cannot convert them for me.

      Is there anyone that could help?? The banner I've created and the templates I've got is in this folder

      https://sth-se.diino.com/maritha/flash the pwd: maritha

      If you could help either to tell what is wrong in the  test file or convert any of the other two files to CS3 I would be more than happy. Right now I do not know what to do. I feel completely stupid... have done so many banners before with a different script and they work but if I change that script to the one above the banner is no longer clickable.

      Thanks in advance to anyone that could be of assistance

          To clarify template_new test.fla in the folder I mentioned above is the one I have tried to get working with a script. The other two are the ones I've got from the company and cannot open.

              HI,

              To be honest I do not know. i got the specs from genomeweb and it says

              5 Make sure your button is selected, then open the Actions panel, and attach the following script to the button

              on (release) {

              if (clickTAG.substr(0, 5) == "http:") {

              getURL(clickTAG, clickTARGET);

              }

              }

              6 In your Publish Settings, make sure the Flash export settings are set to Flash Player 6.

              If you have any suggestions please let me know. You can look at the files I've got if you use the link above. Unfortunately they are not in CS3 so I cannot open them. If I could I might be able to solve the problem.

              :-)

                Hi,

                     "clickTAG" is the variable which will have the value like "http://www.google.com".

                     Ok. The value will be passed from html. you have to check that string value in onPress.

                Your Code is correct. But the condition gets failed.

                Pls find the below code ,

                Html

                         <body bgcolor="#ffffff">
                    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0" width="550" height="400" id="clickTAG" align="middle">
                    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
                    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" />
                    <param name="movie" value="clickTAG.swf?clickTag=http://www.google.com/" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />    <embed src="clickTAG.swf?clickTag=http://www.google.com/" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="550" height="400" name="clickTAG" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
                    </object>
                </body>

                Actionscript

                   on (release) {
                         if (_root.clickTag.substr(0, 5) == "http:")
                         {
                             getURL(_root.clickTag, "_blank");
                         }
                     }

                     I hope this will help you. Cheers...(-_-)
