Sorry I'm still wet behind the ears with AE and Pr but I've made a composition that I want to import into Pr as an overlay with a transparent background. I cannot seem to find a straight tutorial and everytime I import into Pr, the background's solid. I've added Alpha to it there from the presets but it doesn't make a difference. I know it's going to be something obvious but can anyone nudge me in the right direction please.
I learned all my editing and CGI using Ulead's defunct MediaStudio and their 3DCool and this is proving a steep learning curve (but enjoyable in an irritating kinda way) as it's like moving from a family car to Formula 1 (they both have wheels, a body and a steering wheel but...)
Apols if this is a Pr question.
Welcome to the fam, Ossie.
You have to make sure that your content has an alpha channel to begin with. You can do so by toggling the alpha channel display in the composition window. What is white is opaque, and what is black is transparent. The button looks like this:
Secondly, you need to make sure that you're rendering to a codec that supports embedded alpha channels and that you are enabling the inclusion of the alpha channel in the output module settings.
I suggest also looking into the getting started section of the online help for a more thorough introduction to AE.
Thanks Ossie for asking. I've been looking for this as well.
