    PSE9/PC and TWAIN

    TrondS Community Member

After installing PSE9, my TWAIN support has vanished? It seems like my ScanGear software that came with Canon MP600R has disappeared from the possible import options.

      Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Try this link: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/849/cpsid_84933.html to put back the TWAIN support. Hope it helps.

Sorry, no file named TWAIN_32.8BI in that fold, but a file called TWAIN_32.8BA. I tried copying that to the mentioned folder, but nothing changed.

Did this work on a previous version of elements on the same computer?

After you put the twain plug-in the the specified folder, did you turn on your

              scanner before starting pse9?

If this is a different computer, you may have to update the scanner driver.

If you can't get it to work, you can always scan using the scanner software,

save the file and open it in pse9.

With PSE8, also running on Windows 7 64-bit, TWAIN support was included. But after un-installing PSE8, and installing PSE9, TWAIN disappeared. And yes, the scanner is turned on. But I only get the WIA supported import. I didn't like the WIA support, the ScanGear thru TWAIN had much better adjustments.

All i was saying about turning on the scanner was that if you don't have

it on before starting pse9, sometimes the twain plug-in won't show up.

Since you already were using a scanner with pse 8, you knew that anyway.

The exact path that adobe lists in that document is wrong for a 64 bit system

(why they keep doing that who knows)

The right path to put the plugin in is:

                  C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\en_US\Plug-Ins\Import-Export

Is that where you put the twain plug-in?

You should restart your computer in windows, too. Have you tried that?

and it is the .8ba plugin that you want.
