1. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
Mark Goldsworthy Oct 8, 2010 5:36 AM (in response to Ron Lanham)Same here. Happens with some sites for no apparent reason.

2. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
Ron Lanham Oct 8, 2010 2:40 PM (in response to Mark Goldsworthy)I would have thought someone at Adobe (or on the forums) would have figured this out this many years after the transition.
Thanks for posting.

3. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
John Waller Oct 8, 2010 3:29 PM (in response to Ron Lanham)I take it you've tried the initial step mentioned here?
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2584306
From GoLive go to Site > Convert Site to New Structure.
Then from Dreamweaver go to Site > Import GoLive Site.

4. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
Mark Goldsworthy Oct 8, 2010 7:02 PM (in response to John Waller)In GL9 there is no "Convert site" option.
Adobe did so many horrible things to GL9 (probably to make a move to Dreamweaver more appealing) that they eventually shot themselves in the foot and made the import to Dreamweaver unreliable...

5. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
Ron Lanham Oct 8, 2010 10:38 PM (in response to John Waller)Thanks John and grusvag,
Excellent!
That appears to have worked.
No doubt there will have to be a lot of tweaking since there is a lot of CS code, but it sure beats having to start from scratch.
Again... thanks!

6. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
Nini Tjäder Oct 9, 2010 12:33 AM (in response to Mark Goldsworthy)@mark The Convert site I think was an earlier change fo the sitefile, not for GL9. The sitestruture changed between some versions, I think it was between CS and CS2.

7. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
Ron Lanham Oct 14, 2010 9:52 AM (in response to Nini Tjäder)Whew!
Dreamweaver is still not for me. It's like scratching your left ear with your right hand.
Staying with GoLive CS2... crashes-and-all. <g>
But I still appreciate the help... thanks.

8. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
John Waller Oct 14, 2010 10:01 AM (in response to Ron Lanham)Are you having trouble with anything specific in DW or is that a general comment?

9. Re: Migrate GLCS2 to DWCS4 problem.
Ron Lanham Oct 14, 2010 5:58 PM (in response to John Waller)Thanks for asking John.
I'm not having any trouble with DW, and after posting realized I shouldn't have.
Just reminded me why I missed GL not being continued.
Not trying to start a GL/DW war.
If people like DW and actually find it user friendly... excellent.
I think it is always better that there is competition and when only one major product exists to accomplish a task... well..
Fortunately Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and InDesign are truly excellent... since there is nothing really on the same level to compete with them.
Anyway... thanks again... and enough of my whining. <g>
