    Trouble with Dreamweaver

    Harbs. Adobe Community Professional & MVP

      I don't know if my problem has anything to do with the CS SDK per se, but I'm going to post it here just in case...

      I describe my problem here:

      http://forums.adobe.com/message/3188243#3188243

      I am passing in a function and the string to execute to CSXSInterface.getInstance().evalScript() and the JS function performs the eval(). (I don't just do the eval() directly because I want to return the result.)

      Dreaweaver fails miserably. This seems to be a huge problem with using the CS SDK wih Dreamweaver!

      On an aside: I can't seem to find anything about scripting Premiere. If there's no scripting support, what's the point of it supporting the CS SDK?

          Hi Harbs,

          It's news to me that BridgeTalk can target Dreamweaver--I thought only ExtendScript clients were supported. Maybe Bob can jump in and enlighten us.

          I don't actually know about scripting support in Premiere, but I believe the thinking is that there are things you might want to do in a CS Extension panel that don't necessarily have to do with manipulating data in the app. Since I'm an old fashioned guy, I don't see the point of, say, connecting with your Facebook account or opening a chat window...but you could do it.

          Thanks,

              Hi Harbs,

              No, I knew that. What I meant was: how can you send an application anything from BridgeTalk when the applcation doesn't support ExtendScript? (Apart from the Cross-DOM API, I mean.) Can you use executeScript() to run a valid Dreamweaver JavaScript?

              This is making me curious enough that I can see I'm going to have to install Dreamweaver again.:-)

              Thanks,

                Paste this into the ESTK and run:

                var bt = new BridgeTalk;
                bt.target = "dreamweaver";
                bt.body = "alert('Hello from Dreamweaver!');dw.showAboutBox()";
                result = bt.send();

                Dreamweaver is very friendly in response...

                  My two small cents:

                  I was able to run extensions and scripts even on Flash Pro and Fireworks, but faced a lot of bugs. I found some workarounds for them, and that was really hard Flash Pro refuses to run extensions sometimes and sometimes not. If someone is interested I can post a lot of bug reports in all applications of Creative Suite.

                  Harbs, sorry for crashing into your topic

                    Hi Anastasiy,

                    I'm definitely interested, but I have not had any problems with Flash and Fireworks except for the fact that I have to replace "\r" with "
                    r" when eval()ing a script...

                      Anastasiy,

                      Please do report problems here or thought the bug form.  We are very

                      interested in learning your experience.  Especially knowing we do not

                      provide CSAW wrappers for Flash and Fireworks, you might have to come

                      up with some creative workarounds that we just didn't anticipate.

                      Best Regards,

                      lee
