Here's my little problem. I have a movieclip that can be hidden on a button click (and another clip shows over it) from the user, but the thing is that even after being set to _visible = false, I can still click on the "invisible" buttons (in fact they are MC with onRelease actions).
So my question is: How to disable the MC the so that nothing can be done in it? Note that there are drag actions, over 20 buttons actions and such in the movieclip... so there's quite too much to disable individually...
_root.myMC._visible = false; // OK, my MC is not showing anymore
_root.myMC.enabled = false; // Not working, buttons can still be clicked
You must have something more than onRelease event handlers defined. Because if you make a clip invisible the clip will not be able to receive those events.
And likewise for the enabled property.
There is something else going on here that you haven't told us about....
Could it be because I have assigned onRelease events on movieclips (not buttons) so that when I do enable = false it doesn't deactivate them since they're not buttons?
It works for buttons and for movieclips with event handlers. So that isn't it. Well whatever you assign onRelease event handlers to will need to have its enabled property set to false.
And if something is invisible you will not be able to click on it. Unless you set the alpha to zero, but keep it's visible property as true. In that case you can click on hidden things.
