Hello, I'm trying to make a player to play audio/video/images that could potentially play multiple things at the same time overlayed one another. So for example a video playing with an audio track playing in the background or have two videos temporarily overlapping - in the sense that they're playing at the same time and also taking up the same space as opposed to playing side by side. With the new Flex SDK, what would be the best approach to this? I know the new SDK has OSMF 1.0 now and that should have support for this but I'm not sure where to start.
OSMF was designed to address those specific use cases. However, some of the APIs that enable them are not exposed through the Flex APIs. You might want to use OSMF APIs directly rather than the Flex components that wrap them. We've built a rudimentary Flex wrapper class that works with the OSMF MediaContainer (our primary display list class), source is here:
You could use this class instead of the Flex VideoPlayer.
For examples of use cases similar to the ones you mention, see the ExamplePlayer sample app:
Hopefully the examples will clarify how to build your player, but let us know if you have any specific questions that the samples don't cover.
