clvrmnky Oct 14, 2010 9:16 AM (in response to PleaseSir-Jt3ip7)Some operations deliberately ignore the selection when in loupe mode. You don't say whether or not you are in grid or loupe when you make the edit gesture. Even if you are in gird, I'm not sure all aggregate actions will work -- some gestures may only operation on the most selected item.
The filmstrip was changed recently such that it supports aggregate actions.
Anyway, check to see what the behaviour is with grid vs. loupe.

2. Re: "Select All" inconsistent. Bug or feature?
PleaseSir-Jt3ip7 Oct 14, 2010 9:29 AM (in response to clvrmnky)Actually work in both grid and loupe at the same time - I have the loupe on my main editing area/display, and grid on 2nd display.
When I "select all' I'm on the grid of course, otherwise I won't see all images selected/highlighted.

Cornelia-I Oct 14, 2010 10:41 AM (in response to PleaseSir-Jt3ip7)"All animals are equal. But some are more equal than others."
Even if you select all images, you will have two different shades of geyish-white in grid mode: the whitest is the "most selected" and hence the active one.
In Loupe view, Survey view and Develop and others actions will only apply to this active image. In grid view though the opening command works for all selection levels.
Your dual display mode is disturbing, because LR cannot distinguish at which display you look, except when you trigger something by right-clicking in grid view. Otherwise it always assumes you trigger from your primary display.
I don't know if you can force LR to take the grid view always as primary display i.o. secondary?

PleaseSir-Jt3ip7 Oct 14, 2010 6:35 PM (in response to Cornelia-I)Yep tell me about it.
The different levels of selection in Lightroom must be one of the things I hate most about it. I never really got used to it as there isn't much logic, or consistency about it. What exactly can you do with images "less selected' then? Confusing...... If it's a feature, it must be a bad one.
Re the secondary display, no, I can't seem to force Lr to make it in grid view /primary by default.

The most selected is a notion that drives the sync gesture, with all selected items being synced to a single selection.
The filmstrip has been modified in Lr 3 to behave more like traditional selections; this was the result of user requests.
There are actually pretty specific requirements driving the UI design around selections. Generally, if you can see the whole selection, and the part of the UI that holds the selection is active, gestures will work on them as an aggregate. I don't know if the primary/secondary monitor issue is an unwanted side-effect of this or not.

What does that do exactly? Especially in relation to this issue.
I see that images have to be selected first to enable Auto Sync.

8. Re: "Select All" inconsistent. Bug or feature?
Dorin Nicolaescu-Musteață Oct 15, 2010 4:10 AM (in response to PleaseSir-Jt3ip7)It makes Lightrooom apply most (all?) actions to all selected images even if you are in Loupe mode on primary screen.

Why should it make a difference?
I use opt-cmd-E for a reason. I had to set up a second external editor (still photoshop) because there is a bug that if I use the default editor setting, and have selected a good number of photos to edit, some will not open as I reported here (and previously too).

Frustrating really....

11. Re: "Select All" inconsistent. Bug or feature?
99jon Oct 15, 2010 6:24 AM (in response to PleaseSir-47ennI)Normally CS5 is automatically recognized by LR and when you right click on selected photos you get other options such as Merge to HDR as well as Edit in CS5.
I guess the keyboard shortcut will make no difference if CS5 is set up twice but I don‘t understand your set-up.

PleaseSir-Jt3ip7 Oct 15, 2010 8:14 PM (in response to 99jon)It does make a difference. Don't ask me, ask Adobe why.
Check out that link above. There is a suggestion by Dorin, which I followed, to bypass another bug.
